by

@sarahw - No problem! @jayeff has more fun than I do in finding them ;-}

I think it has something to do as they all stand on their head from the rest of us!

by

Hi @danj ,

It all depends on your perspective ;-)

Cheers

by

@jayeff - How do you cut your eggs? from big end or little end ;-}

by

@danj

Never thought about it ;-)

Never had an egg cup so usually just cut them in half and scooped out both halves or just peeled them and then sliced.

Cheers

Good but hot start to the New Year.

Temps in the range 36-40 deg C (96-104 F) and we haven’t had rain for a while but that is not unusual as Perth is dry between November and March averaging ~15-20 mm of rain per month

Cheers

@jayeff - We had the wettest Dec here in Boston! If I could ship it I would.

I visited Perth many years ago on one of my business trips. I stayed a few extra days visiting some of the area.

I loved the coast area around Kalbarri park enjoying the coral & fish in Marmion park.

by

@danj

We had the wettest November since 2012 (not that it meant too much more rain than usual) but virtually nothing since and the total for 2020 was below average so it would be nice to have some ;-)

Kalbarri and the Murchison are very nice as are most of the places up there and further north through the Pilbara and into the Kimberley region.I was thinking of going up there again this year with the caravan but COVID has meant that as most people can't leave Australia for tourism so they're staying at home and discovering their own country - state border restrictions due to outbreaks, permitting. This means that all these places are more crowded than usual with people who live in the state traveling "locally" so to speak.

Hopefully rain where you are means that it isn’t too cold although perhaps you prefer the cold to the wet?

Stay safe and stay healthy.

Cheers

by

@jayeff - No not a lover the wet, but its been very mild so far this winter.

Not traveling either ;-{ I have two jobs which I can't do. They at least understand. Without the income from my photography work its been tough.

Out of curiosity is your government offering any help to people who's jobs were so badly effected by COVID?

Please don't spread the COVID scourge! Be safe and healthy !!

Hi @jayeff, thank you for finding these accounts! I've taken care of them. I'm happy to hear it's been a good new year for you so far! Sounds like a scorcher though. Hope you get some rain soon :)

@danj

Our Fed.gov initiated a jobkeeper progamme in the early days of the virus but it is now being scaled back as the economy picks up. A national cabinet comprising all the state premiers and territory chief ministers and the prime minister of Aust. was set up in the first days of the crisis, to coordinate the response to the virus and basically have a policy that having a healthy population means a healthy economy and this means we have a controlled border to the world and sometimes even between the states when required (internal border restrictions are initiated by the state governments)

The economy here in WA (and Australia generally) has been on the improve mainly due to the fact that there has been no community transmission of the virus for more than 5 months now in WA and nearly as long or longer in the other states except Victoria and NSW where unfortunately outbreaks have occurred mainly due to breakdowns in protocol in the quarantine facilities. The only cases of the virus are usually the incoming arrivals to Aust who are in the quarantine facilities and occasionally when the person has to be moved to a hospital from the facility

Hard state borders, (no entry without permit even for residents - exemptions can be applied for but then they must still quarantine - self isolate) have been implemented on several occasions when virus outbreaks have occurred in the other states to prevent the spread and to wipe it out where it occurs

Our national border is restricted so that no citizen can leave (exemptions apply non citizens can leave at any time) and only 6000 nationals and permanent residents /week can enter and then they must quarantine for 14 days in a quarantine hotel (4-5 star at their own expense -over 100,000 have returned home since the outbreak). Airline and shipping crews, must quarantine on arrival until they depart so the skies over Aust are fairly empty but the shipping lanes are still busy.

The vaccination programme has just been announced and the rollout will begin at the end of Feb so things are looking up.

@jayeff - I wish we had been more aggressive at the beginning. Thanks jayeff for the details.

I fear the beast is changing its spots from our failure to contain it early! I hope we can contain it before it's too late with more severe mutations.

by

@danj

Here it was a case of the Feds being dragged along by the states as the Feds initially thought that you have to just have to live with it and try to control it as best that you can but the states decided that this wouldn't work and under the constitution in an emergency have the right to close their borders at their discretion (tested in the High Court of Aust. by an annoyed mining billionaire who was refused entry into WA from Qld in the early days of the crisis and lost the case) and the Feds to their credit agreed and the outcome is as described above

by

@jayeff - Sounds like they were hoodwinked by our fearless leader's BS !! "just nothing more than a common cold" So sad ... Lack of leadership for both of us. Sadly, we are too big a country and people don't like being controlled to the needed level.

Hi @sarahw ,

Another potential voting ring or perhaps the same user, but time will tell.

3806618 answered a question which was upvoted twice within 5 minutes of it being posted by 3806622 and 3806624

Their user IDs are all consecutive (I think that the system makes them 2 numbers apart) but still they all joined nearly at the same time so maybe it is just the one user and not 3

Have banned this user twice now as they were getting too persistent.

First as 3827116. Then they came back again later today as 3828279 using nearly the same User ID i.e. kuy team in lieu of earlier kuy teams. Is this possible then? I thought that the iRobot wasn’t that pedantic to not recognize the similarity or to pick up on the spam ;-)
